Year 1

I hope everyone is well and remaining calm and positive.

Daily I will update this page with activities that you can complete at home with your Year One pupil.

I will set tasks according to our usual class timetable to a certain extent, but there will be more exercise activities as children will not be in the playground! It would be nice to see some of your creative exercises and adventures around the home too.

I have included a section named 'General Resources' which will remain there for key Year One facts. You can use these all the time and keep them in the children's mind. The 'Daily Tasks' will then be added underneath.

You are welcome to do additional activities or change activities to suit you, please understand that our usual lesson style and standard will not be possible at this time.

Please take photos and email work produced as I will save it in your pupil's work folder on the school network. I will comment on and feedback where appropriate, obviously your own comments in person and at the time to your child will be beneficial to their learning and progress. You can photograph or email to tell me about fun activities you do too, I will appreciate these as I am missing the daily news and stories from home.

If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact me on the class e mail:

year1@st-saviourringley.bolton.sch.uk

Take care of yourselves and your families and keep smiling.

Easter Holidays!

Well done on completing two whole weeks of home schooling. You have done brilliantly and made our school proud with all of your hard work. There will be no work set next week so try and do lots of Easter activities to keep yourselves busy. I would love to see photos or receive emails over the week but may not be as speedy to reply. Happy Easter time. Enjoy some time with you family and in the garden with the nice weather. Mrs Kemp xxx

The CCP Eater Party Document is from the Children's Changing Places group, which is linked to the Diocese, they have asked every school to share this resource with their families. There are some nice Easter activities included. It might just give you some nice ideas of things to do as a family during what would have been the official Easter break- these are not things you must do though.

The Power of Kindness File is from the British Red Cross, it is a calendar of kindness template for the month, which again is just something optional you may wish to do over Easter or April.

Class 1, Mrs Angold has sent me this to share with you to have a try with. Take care and Happy Easter, Mrs Kemp!

Hello everybody!

I thought it would be nice to all share some messages on Purple Mash and at the same time see some familiar faces and what better way to do that than with a mashcam and your class blog!

Here’s how:

  1. Open the To Do called ‘Mashcam  Messages’– first play the message by pressing the Green triangle. You will then hear my message to you and it will give you an idea of what to do! After you have seen my mashcam message to you, simply save and exit  and  hand it in (then I will know who has seen the message).
  2. Next, you will need to make sure you have a device that has a camera (mobile phones are great as are ipads/tablets)  - without it you can’t take that all important selfie!
  3. Next  type  the word ‘mashcam’ into the Purple Mash search bar (it has the magnifying glass)  If you have done this correctly you will then see 3 images – select the middle image of a robot head with no face. This will open into a new page. Now all you have to do is choose a mashcam, take a picture and write your message! Job done.
  4. When you are happy with your mashcam please save it to your work folder – remember make sure your file name makes sense. For example’ Mrs Angold’s mirror mashcam’.
  5. Once you have saved it you can share it on your class blog called ‘Mashcam Messages’ which I have set up for you.
  6. To see someone’s full message on the blog just double click the image

SHARING YOUR WORK:  If you can’t remember how to do this – no worries!

  1. Re-Open your mashcam work, 2.
  2. click the hamburger/menu icon (top left)
  3. click the share icon (the earth with an arrow wrapped around it)
  4. Finally select the ‘blog’ icon on the right (the one with an image of two mountains and a sun).
  5. Give it a title and add a description if you want to
  6. Your work will then appear in the class Mashcam Message Blog.

Can’t wait to see your messages! Remember when posting be kind and respectful of others!

Happy Mashin

Mrs Angold

Lockdown Help and Advice.

As Special Needs Co-ordinator for St Saviours, I have been liaising with some of our outside agencies during this school closure. They have provided the documents below for families and children during this lockdown period. These documents have been aimed at families that are using their agencies so please do not be put off by the terminology i.e. 'children with learning difficulties'. They have some very helpful information in that can help with children struggling to understand the situation and with their anxieties etc.

The first document talks a lot about how to support yourself and your child emotionally through this period and the second gives ideas of how to help your child with routines at home. The visual time table in the second document has lots of school work timetabled in, I do not advise you to do this much. Spending time playing, being with the family and doing day to day activities are much more important. You do not have to use them, however thought it would be good to share.

Well done Class 1! Another fantastic week of learning. I know some of you will be in school this week in your new class bubbles.
