At St Saviour’s CE Primary School, we inspire children to be curious, confident and reflective scientists. Through a knowledge-rich and enquiry-based curriculum, pupils develop a secure understanding of scientific concepts, learn to ask questions, investigate the world around them and understand how science influences everyday life. We aim for all children to develop a lifelong curiosity, critical thinking skills and an appreciation of the role science plays in their future and in caring for our planet.

Science is taught through a carefully sequenced curriculum that builds knowledge, vocabulary and scientific enquiry skills progressively from EYFS to Year 6. Children revisit key concepts through a spiral curriculum, allowing learning to deepen over time. Lessons include retrieval practice, practical investigations, scientific discussion and opportunities to apply learning in real-world contexts. Adaptive teaching ensures all pupils are supported and challenged to achieve success whilst developing the skills to observe, predict, investigate, analyse and draw conclusions using evidence.

Children leave St Saviour’s with secure scientific knowledge, strong enquiry skills and the confidence to think and work like scientists. They can ask thoughtful questions, use scientific vocabulary accurately, analyse evidence and explain their understanding clearly. Our pupils are curious, knowledgeable and independent learners who understand the relevance of science in the wider world and are well prepared for the next stage of their education.
