Additional Reading

I know many people are concerned about the lack of reading and availability of books so I have gathered a few additional resources. I have grouped them into phonic phases, don't feel you do need to read these, but if you are looking for something additional I hope they help. They are only short and the questions are optional.

Friday 5th March

Well.... we have come to our last day of home schooling. I'm sure some of you (adults and children) are over the moon, and others are a little sad to see the end, as there must also have been many joys to spending so much time together at home. I feel a little bit in the middle but mostly am looking forward to having all of our Year Two faces back together in class. So enjoy this last day, I will see you at the normal times of 9am and 2pm and we will most likely do a TEAMS in the classroom so that you can see it is nearly the same as when you left it.

Thank you Year Two for working so hard, never giving up and bringing joy to every day on TEAMS. Thank you adults too for the continuous emails and effort you have given to your wonderful learners at home and to the school.

From all the Year Two Team.

Welcome to WORLD BOOK DAY.

Thank you so much for all of the photos which have been sent in, we will share these today and a winner will be announced in the TEAMS this afternoon, but thank you for each photo as they have all made me smile. I hope you enjoy today's slightly different timetable- the day's plan has gone onto the second part of the files, it looks like lots of files but lots are optional.

Enjoy!

Wednesday 3rd March 2021.

We are already at hump day- well done everyone.

I hope you enjoy today's story called the Snatchabook.

Enjoy some exercise for PE day and enjoy your last TEAMS at home with Mrs Angold.

Remember that tomorrow is World Book Day so our lesson's will alter slightly. You can dress up if you want but please don't feel you need to, as suggested on Monday you could change your background to be a setting or character from your favourite book. We will share photos from your reading challenge tomorrow so send these in today please.

Have a nice Wednesday, Mrs Delaney.

Welcome to March.

It is crazy to think that this time next week there will be no TEAMS and we will be in the same room! I am looking forward to it hugely. This week our English has got nice texts each day as it is World Book Day on Thursday so we are having a big reading focus.

Remember to send those 'extreme reading' photos in when you have taken them.

Apologies, the Maths link was missed off the daily overview: https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/exploring-odd-and-even-numbers-part-2-6mrpcd

The end of week one so soon! The great news is we have just one more week of home learning.

I have included a newsletter from last year's school closure which is from the psychology team in Bolton, it gives some tips and discussions which you may want to be thinking about over the next week in preparation for children coming back.

See you on TEAMS today and well done on an excellent first week back.

Well done for all the wonderful work I have been receiving this week. It is great that so many of you have returned from half term so determined.

Good luck with problem solving in Maths today, a little trickier but definitely where we should be heading at this time in the year.

Have a great day.

CONGRATULATIONS! It is the last day of the half term. You have all done such a brilliant job. Just so you know I have had such a task on my hands choosing a special mention for today, it gets harder and harder each week because so many people are trying so hard.

I had added a few information Powerpoints to today's file list. You may want to look at these during half term on those special days. I will be making a fuss of St Valentines day and Shrove Tuesday in my house this year so will have some photos to share with you after half term.

Have a great last day of the half term, remember the end is in sight and we will all be back together soon. Thank you for being a brilliant class of learners and home teachers.

See you at 9am and 2pm for our photo gallery sharing and a good chatter.

Thanks Lucy for today's quote.

I have added a Word document with some photos which you may want to use for your English report about Kampong Ayer. You may prefer to draw pictures or use the internet to find your own photos.

Above is one of the positive quotes from last week. Thanks Amelie for this. Hopefully it will help us keep motivated this last week.

If anybody found money particularly tricky yesterday- don't worry! We may be a little behind because of closure in Year One. If you would rather stick to pence today and find totals that is fine. Anybody in school will be doing this practically with coins before we move on to today's work.

Hope everybody is feeling okay and powering through this week for a well earned rest.

Well done for a lovely Children's Mental Health Week. I hope to see everyone wearing their own unique styles this morning. I hope you like the quote it is my favourite because I can't read it without smiling. I have linked our English story today to this too so I hope it gives you a lovely smiley feeling.

I have added a class poem to our file list today. There is no need to do anything with this I just enjoyed writing it about you all, I hope you enjoy reading it.

Have a great Fri-YAY!

Welcome to Thursday all. Today's quote is all about having courage, this is like being brave. I know everyone in our class has lots of courage because you all try new things each day. If you want to share on TEAMS anything else that shows you have courage then please do.

Thanks for your excellent work yesterday. If you don't have  tube to hand to do art today you could make one from card or paper, or save this until half term, remember there is an alternative task on the Powerpoint, so don't worry if paint isn't possible.

Have a great day.

Welcome to the first day of a new month. I hope February brings lots of people good news and it certainly means we are a little closer to all being back together. I hope you all had a good weekend and managed some rest and much fun.

This week is Children's Mental Health Week, there is a letter at the top of today's file list which outlines the details. I will be adding a positive quote to our page each day, today's is one of my favourites- I think kindness is so important and keeps us smiling. I hope you are kind to each other today and receive some kindness too. Have a lovely Monday.

See you at 9am.

Thanks, oh and... it's nearly the end of the week!

Welcome to Wednesday! I hope you have woken up today full of mid week excitement, we always enjoy Big Maths/ PE/ ICT day in school.

Thank you for the lovely chatter on TEAMS yesterday, I do miss our class conversations so it is so lovely to speak with you each day, just like if we were talking in the class or playground together.

I haven't added the Big Math sound clips as I don't want to make the file list too long but they are on last weeks 'Wednesday' list and can be downloaded and saved onto your computer to make it easier to access.

Thanks for some excellent comments on TEAMS relating to our Geography work and comparing homes.

For those that weren't able to join us just a reminder that tomorrow's PM session is with Mrs Angold at 2:05pm and Thursday and Friday Miss Smith will be hosting for her final two days in our class. I will see you at 9am as normal today.

Below is today's work- don't be off put by the amount in the file list! Two are sound clips and the phonics downloads don't need to all be completed- just the relevant group. There were lots for PE this week but won't be as many next week.

The work I am putting on does follow a sequence of learning and I just wanted to ensure that if you think your child needs to spend longer on a particular area, then please do this and do not worry about moving on. I would rather they were secure and happy with the knowledge they have and can solidify understanding rather than move through lessons too quickly.

Have a nice day.

Well done making it to Thursday, nearly time for a weekend rest. We have a lot of learning in our English and maths but some art to relax us and some exploring in history, so a nice mixed day.

Mrs Meachem was hoping to join in some TEAMS this week but has been having microphone troubles, if any pupil is unable to access today but would appreciate a telephone conversation we can arrange this. Please email the class email address.

Please can I remind pupils to be fully dressed when on TEAMS (being cosy in pyjamas still is fine, just fully covered)- thank you. See you at 9am.

Thank you for making my first day of real remote teaching a successful one.

I am so glad there have been so many positive comments from children about the fractions work- I usually dread this work in school!!

Please can I stress on TEAMS that unless you are asked to unmute then keep yourself muted for the duration. I love giving children the opportunity to speak during the sessions, but it is very hard to hear sometimes with the background noise from unmuted microphones. I know this must also be the case for pupils who are trying to engage. I welcome feedback from the sessions. I am trying to find a balance between demonstrating work (more so in the morning), and giving pupils chance to take part in discussions or sharing work. I am so grateful that so many of you are participating and would like you to know that I enjoy these times in the day, it is nice for the class to be together in the virtual sense.

Today's work is available below. If there are any specific questions relating to English you can send these to Mrs Spencer Peck who has set today's English reading task and added her email address to the English section. I will still be present at 9am and 2pm on TEAMS.

Thank you, have a successful Tuesday.
