Chinese New Year Preparations - February 2019

The children have been finding lots out about Chinese New Year this week. We have made dragons, lanterns and lucky money envelopes. We have looked at willow patterns and created our own on paper plates and on a vase template. Through the week we have practiced picking things up with chop sticks. That proved a little tricky but we have been getting better. It is the year of the pig so we actually started our week by making pig masks.

Our final day tomorrow will conclude with a Chinese New Year party. We are going to be doing a class dragon dance, creating Chinese music and will be tasting some Chinese food with our Year 6 buddies. We can't wait.

Dragon Dance - February 2019

Reception made some great noise with their instruments! Our dragon moved to the Chinese beat! Sadly we did not manage to get any pictures from the food tasting with our buddies. All the teachers had their hands full being serving the food. It went down well though.

PTA Disco - February 2019

There were some great dance moves in the hall tonight.

Church Display - March 2019

The children have created a lovely bright Easter display in church. Please feel free to have a look at it and add a comment to the new comment book that is with the display.

World Book Day - March 2019.

The children all had a great day today. Their costumes looked fantastic. Well done everyone at home, you did a great job with the children. Parts of the costumes started to be removed as the day went on! Fun was had by all though. We drew some 'character selfies', decorated bookmarks, shared books together and met a famous artist who spoke to us and re told some stories with us.

Shrove Tuesday - Pancake Day - March 2019

Lunchtime was a little bit different today. We had pancakes for pudding. Mrs Bowman has never had ice-cream on a pancake before!

What is your favourite pancake topping?

Our Spring Nature Walk - April 2019

Today we went on a nature walk. We were looking out for signs of spring. We saw lots of buds and new growth all around. We also heard sounds of spring. Lots of birds were out and about, playing in the sun.

We had one final surprise right at the end of our walk. There was a large puddle in the middle of the field. In the middle of the puddle there were lots of tadpoles. We must have had some very confused frogs during all that rain!

Easter - April 2019

We had lots of fun on the run up to Easter. We made chocolate Easter nests, made a cave collage, acted out the Easter story and took part in an 'Easter Bonnet Parade' amongst other things.

There were strange happenings one day. We seemed to find traces of the Easter Bunny. He even dropped some of his eggs! Luckily he dropped 30 so there was one each.
